Open your eyes

Often when I meet with my brides I’m given a warning. “You’re going to have a hard time getting good pictures, I’m not very photogenic.” It’s amazing how frequently I hear it. Beautiful, unique, women who are looking at their photos and judging them—judging themselves.

I understand. As a woman, I’m all too familiar with the harsh critiques that fill my mind when I see an image of myself. We grow up this way. “My nose is too big.” “My chin is too small.”

Relax.

Let me show you. Because the thing is, we will get good photos, and you will LOVE them. One of the things I love most about my job is being able to show people how beautiful they are. I love the magic moment that transpires when my clients relax and laugh a little—faces soften, eyes brighten, and they seem to glow from the inside-out. Radiant. Joyful.

Today, I finally watched the Dove Real Beauty Sketches video that’s been going viral on Facebook, and I was touched. They conducted an experiment to show how women view themselves (vs) through the eyes of a stranger. I finished the video with teary eyes, and a new perspective. And readers? I’m hoping you will too.
