WPPI 2012 Las Vegas – Recap

Its been a few weeks and I’ve had the chance to settle in, ponder, and absorb some of the what I learned/experienced at WPPI this year. For those of you who are new to my blog, WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) is a huuuuuge conference held each year in Las Vegas bringing photographers all over the world together for competitions, classes, and networking….ok..and maybe some really cool parties. Last year I came back refreshed, inspired, and humbled. This year was no different. I came back awash with inspiration, emotion, and a memory card FULL of images, and some killer beauty knowledge dropped by my awesome roomie Laura Kelly.

THINGS I LEARNED IN VEGAS

1.) How to tease my hair. Seriously. How did I live without this? I live in the South!

2.)How to properly light a cigar. (Compliments of an amaaaaazing 1930’s Prohibition Party)

3.)How to fake cheekbones with bronzer. (I’d tried this before but ended up less Heidi Klum and more dirty zebra)

4.)Lumberjacks really do exist in Canada. Just like Hugh Jackman in Wolverine. <—I have an unhealthy obsession with lumberjacks. My Canadian roomie may have just made my dreams come true.

The aforementioned Prohibition Party! Amazing. I had the pleasure of being escorted by photographer friend Sasha Kino. And was pleased to meet new friends as well!

On our last full day, Laura & I hit the town to take cheesy/touristy photos!

Laura & I with the infamous Jasmine Star!

Having a lovely dinner/drink before heading out on a night photo-walk of Vegas!

Our fake gambling photos! Because neither of us actually gambled in Vegas.

Proof that I’m a complete dork in front of the camera. I made spirit-fingers in 2 out of 3 photos. What?!

The last photobooth before walking out of the tradeshow.

Leaving Vegas. 🙁

Home at last!

And as long as this post was, I have more coming later! Laura and I turned our cameras on each other for an awesome photoshoot! I’ll be posting those soon.

Great Vegas pics!Loved them ALL. I can’t believe you got away with fake gambling photos. We tried to take one like that in Belagio casino and got busted! LOL! They tend to frown on casino pictures in Vegas so it’s cool you got one! 🙂

  2. Laura Kelly says:

LOLLLLLLL this post killed me. Especially the part about Lumberjacks. I am so proud of your blogginess 🙂
