I was beyond honored when Matt and Lindsay asked me to photograph their wedding. I went to high school with Matt, and it’s always amazing to be able to reconnect (especially with a fellow musical theater friend). Last summer, they traveled down from their home in Boston for a week and we scheduled their engagement session. After battling rain (and subsequently switching up locations), I got to meet Lindsay and spend a bit of time inside their relationship. For the following year, I looked forward to what I knew would be an incredible day!
Lindsay and Matt’s Westin Huntsville wedding was SO much fun! After their first look, we were met with a flash rain storm and headed back in for the bridal party photos. Luckily, the skies cleared just in time for their outdoor courtyard ceremony.
There’s something magical about the beginning of a wedding day. It’s the calm before the craziness, the ceremony, reception—it’s quiet. In this time, I get to focus on all the little details that you’ve worked so hard to curate for this day (the rings, invitations, cuff links). I sit back and watch the morning unravel. Some of my favorite portraits lately have been of the groom getting ready. The anticipation and excitement in his face, the smiles, the nervous laughter as he straightens his tie. These are the kind of things that make my job incredible.
I’m loving Lindsay + Matt’s first look in the courtyard—-so sweet and emotional!
I had the pleasure of working with Kris from Sugar Rock Events—she did an incredible job on the ceremony flowers and the reception (just WAIT until you see the centerpieces)! I couldn’t get enough of this flower-covered arbor!
From their dramatic choreographed first dance all the way to their reception band Az Izz (who came out into the crowd, sung, and danced on stage), this night was a PARTY! (It also featured some pretty incredible Key Lime Pie by the Westin that I’m still dreaming about).
Once the reception gets going, I usually try to sneak outside with the couple for some sunset (or sometimes) twilight photos—the string lights at Bridge Street made such a beautiful backdrop for us.
Our final shot of the evening (pun intended)—-because is there any better way to end an amazing day than sharing a drink with the ones you love?
Thanks to all of the amazing vendors who made this possible!
