Taylor and Marshall celebrated their Sheffield, Al wedding in style. They began the day at their reception venue, Georges 217—-which embraces it’s old, downtown elegance with raised ceilings, chandeliers, a polished wood bar, and a cozy back-courtyard. It made for the perfect place to get ready!
I loved all of the beautiful details throughout the day. Taylor chose a custom bridal hanger for her wedding dress. A personalized hanger is one of my number one recommendations to brides. It’s so much better to photograph a wedding gown when it’s taken off the basic, plastic hanger! Isn’t this bridal suite GORGEOUS? It was awesome getting to watch Colleen Gagnon work her magic on Taylor’s makeup.
I’m loving Marshall’s GQ-esque getting ready portraits. He looked so stylish in his navy suit and brown shoes.
First Look time – this is one of my favorite parts of the day. Choosing to see one another before the wedding ceremony is a beautiful way to share a private moment together (before the hectic pace of the day begins). It also allows for more bride and groom photos, and posed/family photos before the ceremony leaving you to have fun with guests after!
The reception room was beautifully designed by the George’s 217 staff. Tall floral centerpieces perched above the tables as lit votives and crystal chandeliers filled the room with warm, glowing, light. No detail was left undone.
After the ceremony, Taylor and Marshall had arranged for a trolley to transport their bridal party back downtown for the reception. I’m so thrilled we were able to play with this a little bit. The driver was super accommodating, and even parked on a street where we could have a clean backdrop—yes please! Stacey from One Day to Treasure kept the day flowing smoothly (which allowed us lots of time for photos).
After dinner, the party really got started! I had the pleasure of photographing Taylor’s sister’s wedding back in 2014, so I KNEW I was in for a dancing-heavy wedding. These guys were insane! It is SO much fun when guests really cut loose at the reception. It makes for the best photos!
All day, I’d been scheming up a way to utilize the gorgeous bar in the George’s lobby. Towards the end of the night, I convinced Marshall to round up a few groomsmen for a photo idea—I’m so very glad he did!
